We chose St. Thomas Square as the site for our garden. It has a quadrangular shape and is surrounded by travertine buildings, including St. Thomas Church and its bell tower and the ceramics museum. The materiality of this very mineral space seemed interesting to us for working the garden space because of its colors and thermal properties. In fact, travertine stone has a concentric structure and a porous surface. Its strong thermal inertia allows even diffusion of soft heat. In addition, this site has potential, but it does not currently exploit all these qualities. In fact, there are many cars and a children's playground, but the space is unqualified. We then projected our intentions into this space to create a place of escape, relaxation, and provisioning.
